If you are in Dublin for more than a day, you’ve probably noticed the amount of cafes here. So if you are interested in learning something new and adding to your CV, AB College in partnership with a Wice exchanges are offering a 5 hour barista course for just 49€. Students (AB College or Wice) get a good discount, which reduces the price to 35€.
We, from Dublinando, went to check-out the course very closely and we will share our experience here.
When you get there you will receive a booklet, where you can get information on the different types of coffees and the the most common types of coffees served in Dublin.
Then an explanation was given about the functioning of the coffee machine, about the beans and the coffee grinding, etc. in detail about to make sure everyone understands. So if you do not understood anything about coffee or don’t like it, no worries, you will be able to follow the course.
Finally, there is time for practice. The teacher basically teaches 9 types of coffee (like espresso, cappuccino, latte, mocha, etc.) and you make each one, under her supervision. If you have difficulty, she will help you with both your questions and practical learning.
You could drink all the coffees you make, however, there is no way you could actually do that. But you can taste them all and analyze how it was with your colleagues, for example, if there is a creamy, adequate foam for your cappuccino, temperature, etc.
The course takes 5 hours and is taught in small classes, since everyone makes coffee in practice. This seems like a long afternoon, but we had a good time and learned a lot about coffee along with our group.
At the end of the course you will receive your certificate, which can be a beneficial tool when it comes to getting a job.
So, what are you waiting for? Contact the school here and schedule your course.
Good course and good luck!
