From march 16 to 19 Ireland will be living 4 glorious days of culture, music and entertainment at St. Patrick´s Festival, the biggest celebration in the whole Island and more countries around the world, and they are looking for volunteers to take part in the organization.

If you are 18 or more, creative, artistic, enthusiastic and interested in learning new skills from highly skilled professionals in design, costume, prop making, make up and float decoration, this is the opportunity that you were looking for. You can now send your application through their website www.stpatricksfestival.ie and take the opportunity to collaborate back stage at the Ireland´s major party. In order to send the application you must fill the spaces in blank wit your name, email, gender, address, phone number, date of birth, availability and describe the type of work that you would be interested in.

In this celebration there are many disciplines involved, the festival relies on volunteers each year to help sewing, cutting, organizing, coordinating, dressing, packing, assisting or even putting on a costume and become part of the show.

The main role assistants needed are:

General Assistants to work with costume and props designers and artists. A fantastic opportunity to be involved in the creative process from conception to completion:
Assisting the costume and props designers and artists to help make the pieces for the pageant as part of the parade on St Patrick’s Day. Each year we have a new theme to work with.

Costume Assistants & Make up Artists who will work with our artistic team to bring alive the look and feel of the City Fusion and Brighter Futures pageants for the St Patrick’s Day parade:

• If experienced you could help with sewing and pattern cutting, if not, there are many things such as ironing costumes, help prep of head pieces, shoes etc and help with organising the studio as we are making up to 200 costumes.
• If you have computer skills and are familiar with using internet for sourcing and ordering supplies for the artists creating costume.
• Liaising with participating groups, obtaining measurements, coordinating fitting dates and helping coordinate pre festival costume rehearsals.
• Coordinating in advance the parade day set up of the pageant in terms of dressing and makeup of 200 participants from 6am on March 17th.
• Assisting on parade day (Mon 17th March bank holiday), with dressing the participants, and if you would like, you can also participate in the pageant as we’ll put you in costume and become part of the group on the day.
• Makeup artists: if you have an interest in makeup we need volunteers on parade day who would work with our main markup artist to create beautiful designs on the faces of all our participants. We will hold a pre parade class to train people in the designs for the day.
• Post event; assist in getting all costumes and materials packed, labeled and back to storage, therefore persons must be available week post festival for 1 or 2 days maximum (19th & 20th March).

Props Assistants who will work with the prop makers to create large scale props like heads of puppets, constructions and large scale pieces:
• You will work closely with designers and creators who have worked with the Macnas and St Patrick’s Festival for many years therefore you’d gain much sought after experience.
• You will be based in our Studios on Harcourt Terrace, Dublin 2 Please note you would be working in a heated studio but I’d advice to be aware it may still get cold so be prepared for this and wear warm clothing.
• You will assist the prop makers create large scale props like heads of puppets, large scale pieces. This could mean help with painting, gluing materials, weaving and making head pieces.
• Sourcing and ordering supplies for the artists creating props.
• Attend 1 or both of the dress rehearsals on the weekends prior to parade day (dates tbc). These run for approx 3 hours.
• Assisting on parade day (Mon 17th March bank holiday), with dressing the participants, and if you would like, you can also participate in the pageant as we’ll put you in costume and become part of the group on the day.
• Post event; assist in getting all costumes and materials packed, labeled and back to storage, therefore persons must be available week post festival for 1 or 2 days maximum (19th & 20th March).
